The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments issued a "code red" for Thursday. Chicago had the worst air quality in the world and Dubai had the third worst, according to iqair.com.
According to AirNow.Gov, Washington DC's Air Quality Index (AQI) was at 163 as of 7 a.m., which was indeed a code red, or unhealthy. Plume Labs said the AQI in the DC area was closer to 200, if not above.
